Tim
Moriarty
recently joined the business development team at Emerging
Solutions, an IT consultancy based in downtown Chicago. He
and his wife, Lee, are staying very busy with their three
children, John (18), Jennifer (16) and Patrick (14). They
are also very active in their support of the Pediatric Oncology
Treasure Chest Foundation, which raises money to buy toys
for kids undergoing painful cancer treatments.
Dan
DeSantis is a principal with Linsalata Capital Partners,
a Cleveland-based private equity firm. Dan lives in Cleveland
with his wife, Marti, and two children, Emily and John.
Carla
Sawa and her husband, Steve, along with daughter Ashley
Marie (3), welcomed a son/brother, Kyle Joseph, on March 21.
"We are so blessed, and our little family is complete!"
Patty
Ozaki and Gerrit Loder welcomed their fourth child, Mayu
Akari, March 1. "Her brothers and sister absolutely adore
her and I'm enjoying a long maternity leave. We're still living
in the Netherlands, and since last year I've been working
for TomTom, a Dutch navigation company. The navigation market
is growing rapidly, making it all the more exciting and challenging
to be in this field."
Deborah
Kuo is now the director of real estate for Exelon, one
of the nation's largest utility and electricity generation
companies. "My responsibilities now encompass the portfolio
strategy, asset and property management, lease/records administration,
transactions management, and property tax management for Exelon's
portfolio of real estate holdings. Since you can't open up
a publication without seeing something about the green movement,
I'll add that I just completed the design, construction and
relocation of Exelon's corporate headquarters — more
than 220,000 square feet and nearly 800 employees. The culmination
of our three-year project was the award of the Platinum designation
by the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED program, making
our project the largest platinum LEED office space in the
world! I've been on the speaking circuit to share our experience,
and it's very gratifying to see that sustainability has become
much more mainstream in business, compared to when we first
started down this path in 2004."
John
Strelecky just released his latest book — Life
Safari. After watching his first writing endeavor, The
Why Café, turn into an international best-seller, he decided
to follow it up with something a little more action-oriented.
For this book, he built upon the experiences he and his wife,
Xin Zhao '00, had while backpacking through Africa in
2002. The story tracks the journey of a young man searching
for happiness and a very wise, very old African woman who
guides him across the African continent.
