From
April 7-9, alumni participated in the annual student-led conference
held by the Kellogg School's Black Management Association.
The conference showcased today's powerful corporate, entrepreneurial
and social leaders who contributed to the event's theme, "Influencing
the World: Building Intellectual, Economic, and Social Capital."
Aylwin Lewis, CEO and president of Sears Holdings Co; Clarence
Otis, chairman and CEO of Darden Restaurants Inc; Quintin
E. Primo III, chairman and CEO of Capri Capital Advisors;
and many other prominent African-American leaders shared their
wisdom and experiences for achieving success.
During
this year's Alumni Town Hall Meeting, Whit Shepard, associate
dean of development and alumni relations, discussed both the
successes Alumni Relations has achieved and the challenges
that lay ahead for our alumni clubs. The meeting concluded
with alumni engaged in discussion on further increasing alumni
involvement with Kellogg. As a result of that dialogue, Jabari
DeRon '05 and Clay Virgil '06 will be spearheading
an alumni-admissions committee, with the goal of enhancing
our club's relationship with admissions to increase the number
of African-American applicants and students at Kellogg.
