EMP-60

Greetings from the James L. Allen Center (seriously). I begin this column sitting outside Barr Forum watching EMP-63 enjoy their capstone class. It seems unreal that it has already been a year since our graduation. We had a fantastic one-year reunion, but missed a lot of you who couldn't attend.

First and foremost, big props to the ladies for 100 percent participation. Yes, all of us not only made it to the reunion, but we had dinner the night before at the elegant NoMI at the Park Hyatt, overlooking the Chicago Water Tower. Great food, conversation and wine topped off our evening. It was thrilling when we saw Bono from U2 walk by our table to dine in the next room (yes, he is really, really short). Deb Nunes is enjoying her new job in Atlanta, Patricia Harris has moved to Chicago, JoJo Chesney is conducting a job search, Lynn Connelly has left Office Depot and is exploring several potential opportunities, Vana Matte is expecting her second child and I just gave birth to my son, Edward Burrough Moore IV, in March. At 9 lbs., 3 oz., and 21 inches long, he is a big, happy and healthy boy.

Also attending the reunion was: Tom Bronz, Shan Chinnasamy, Phil Glick, Don Hammond, Bob Herzog, Tom Himmel, Tom Marry, Luis Orbegoso, Todd Putz, Roy Rumbough, Rich Rusnack, PA Wendin and Kevin Wilson. Phil, Kevin, Todd and Tom Himmel brought their beautiful and talented wives to liven up the group. Although it kills me to admit this, LIM (Less Is More) won the prize for group participation. I guess team 232 can't win them all. LIM even had a group dinner at Twin Acres to chow down on some prize-winning ribs. Randy "Bagger" McCreary lived up to his name, and we called him several times in the middle of the night to punish him for his latest no show. A great time was had by all as we relived our experiences at Koi, Pete Miller's, Nevin's, Bar Louie and the Keg.

It seems that several of us got busy (literally) right after graduation and knew exactly how to fill our newly found free time. On March 14, Meaghan and Paul Kolebuck were thrilled to add baby Caroline to the family. Along with the twins, Andrew and James, Caroline is a complete bundle of joy. Scott Van Lieu and his wife Kara had celebrated the arrival of George Thomas. He was born on April 2, and weighed 9 lbs., 10 oz. and was 22 inches long. Siblings Nicholas and Cate love their handsome new little brother. Ann and Alan Handley also welcomed their fourth child this spring, and we await more details.

Bob Herzog reports that his ship has finally come in. He has left Fed Ex to join Leeds as the vice president of operations in Pittsburgh. Leeds is the No. 1 non-apparel promotional products company. Joining him in Pittsburgh is Ron Keating and family. Yes, just six months after happily returning to Texas, Ron accepted a big promotion at Kennametal. He is now the corporate vice president and president of the metalworking solutions services group. They didn't even get a chance to fully unpack from their last move. Tom Bronz is now working in downtown Chicago for Brunswick as the director of high performance product development (yeah baby!). He is commuting each week from Michigan, where his family prefers to stay. He told me that he does get boat privileges on the lake, so we will look forward to using his connections to score some sailing time.

Stuart Abelson celebrated his wedding on Aug. 28 on Mackinac Island. In attendance were several fellow EMP-ers.

We will be planning a two-year reunion/golf trip next spring, so stay tuned. It will be similar to the New Orleans trip we took during year one. Please send me any new contact information, and keep the updates coming or I will certainly make up my own for you.
