EMP-53

Greetings EMP-53, and welcome to the baby edition!

First, Julie Einstein beat all of us for "the most big life changes award" — she took a new job in Boston (still with Pulte), sold her house in Washington, D.C., and moved, married Jeff and had a baby girl within a year. Her daughter is Jordan Chase Stuecken and was born on April 2. Most awesome (at least to me): no drugs during delivery! Jules was always one brave chick. Congratulations, Julie and Jeff!

Kaivalya Rawal writes that he was blessed with a son in September — his name is Raaghav Kaivalya. Kaivalya is posted in London.

Dan Roman (from my very own group, formerly known as H) and Marci welcomed Ben Samuel Roman on March 10 (and Dan's had no sleep since that night, either). As you might recall, Dan and Mike Sarlitto started SummitPoint Management together and are now doing operations-based acquisition consulting for some Fortune 500's. Congratulations to them for making the big leap into entrepreneurship a successful one.

And our very own Santosh Padki is also changing diapers regularly! Santosh and Kalea welcomed Anjali Sushila Padki on Feb. 25 (a week before their second anniversary) in Chapel Hill, N.C. Peter and I have not made it to visit yet (our hands are full with our own little guy — more on him later) but we understand Santosh built a six-bedroom house! We look forward to hearing that you are filling more bedrooms.

Artie Collins is also a new dad. He writes, "We just had our third child three weeks ago (early May): a little girl Madelyn Melady Collins. Big brothers Artie and Danny are crazy about her." Artie is still at Northern Printing in Wheeling, Ill.

And finally, Peter and I had Finn Matthews in September and somehow the papers chose to cover the arrival of Britney Spears's baby instead. Go figure. I am now, of course, brainwashed, but I swear Finn's one heck of a lot cuter than whatever-his-name-is that Britney had. Plus, Peter and I know how to use a car seat. I continue to work full-time on the development team for the new Mandarin Oriental Tower in Chicago and understanding how difficult it is to choose between working and being at home. Sigh.

In other news, Pam Alexa writes, "There is not much new on my end," and then goes on to say that she's writing from Belgium and continues to globe trot as an essential part of her job. Sounds interesting enough, already.

Tony Florek switched jobs and became VP of sales with Beltone in Chicago. For those of us simple folks, he "moved from eyes to ears" and writes that he is working his way down the body. I guess we'll all look forward to the next jobs, and I'll have to see if Kellogg will even print his next gigs. On a generous note, he suggests that if anyone has a loved one that has hearing care/hearing aid needs please don't be shy and give him a call. He is located in the new corporate office in Glenview on the retail side of business versus the professional side. He writes, "The new position is definitely stretching my brain!"

And Anne reports for husband Jay Kobitter that he has a new job as director of global logistics at Zebra Technologies in Vernon Hills. Global does really mean global, as recent travel included Amsterdam and Singapore. Also, he is finally Tom's soccer coach! Congrats!

In the unconfirmed, unsubstantiated rumor mill:

Jeff Hood and Chris Jerzewski are both transferring with HSBC — Jeff potentially out of country.

Barry Nohalty has started a small film business on his boat. (What kind of films, Barry?)

Ashok Krishnan and Aarthi moved to India. (I actually think this one is true — where are you, Ash?)

Reed Melton is going to be Š (Please send me an e-mail and finish this line so the best responses can make the next issue.)

And lastly, if you are wondering why two of the photos accompanying this column have me in them, it's because no one is sending me material. So please, please send news and photos for the next column! Thanks so much, and take good care.
