Julie Tolan, vice president of university advancement at Marquette University, was named one of the 2006 Women of Influence in Milwaukee by The Business Journal. Tolan was recognized for her nonprofit leadership. She led the most successful comprehensive fundraising campaign in Marquette's history — the Magis campaign — and raised an unprecedented $357 million from 57,641 donors. In nominating Tolan, Marquette President Robert A. Wild said she "has a true gift for building, developing and maintaining relationships with our alumni and other donors." Marquette Trustee Mary Ellen Stanek praised Tolan's "strong sense of mission, her vision and her creativity."
