John Wood's organization, Room to Read, has recently been honored with a Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship. The Skoll Foundation has also awarded Room to Read a $1.2 million grant, which will be delivered over the next three years and used to help the organization increase its capacity. Room to Read is a San Francisco-based nonprofit working to increase literacy and education.

Bob Mitton sent this update from San Francisco:

"I left my division manager job at Advanced Micro Devices quite a while back and opened a real estate practice. Last year my wife Irma joined me in the business. Bay Area real estate is a wild ride, and we've been having a great time. We are currently with Alain Pinel Realtors. I've also added a securities license because I had a lot of demand for higher-level investment vehicles like office buildings and retail centers. By the way, if anyone is thinking of buying, selling or investing anywhere in the United States, we'd be glad to help.

"My daughter, Laurel (4), informed us last week that when she grows up she's going to be a ballerina, a jet pilot or controller of the world. I think she'll be ready for kindergarten. Her brother Rob (2) seems to be following in her footsteps.

"I had dinner with Gary Jones in Seattle recently. He's doing great and having a great time raising his three kids. I had a long weekend of golf and spring training in Scottsdale with the boys, one of whom was the infamous Pat Muldoon. Among all his other successes, he's running the Zola-Acai power juice company. Hillary Glann's and Sky Runser's business and marketing strategy consulting firm, Ilima Partners, has been going great. I also had lunch with Stu Lerner a while back. He's director of product marketing at ByteMobile, working on cutting-edge video and content delivery to cell phones."
