What
can I say? Reunion was a blast. I hope that everyone who attended
shares the same feeling. It was just terrific to mix and mingle
just as if we were back at TGIF. (The TGIF lounge, I am sad
to say, is now the career development office! Oh well, things
do change!) But what didn't change was our camaraderie for
each other. We picked up just where we had left off, even
better, I think. Many thanks to all of those who helped to
make this such a warm and relaxing weekend, but special kudos
to Pat McGarvey,
Greg Perlman, Salman Amin and Ivan Menezes.
Job well done, gentlemen. Check out photos on the Reunion
Web site alumni.kellogg.northwestern.edu/reunion/2005/photos/index.htm. Most pictures of our class are on the last few pages.
At
Reunion, old bonds were strengthened and new ones made. I
enjoyed exchanging stories of personal and professional experiences
with classmates I really never had the chance to get to know
during our Kellogg experience. Through our conversations,
I was amazed that some of us who obtained the exact job that
we wanted upon graduating from Kellogg are still either with
the same company or in the same field. On the other hand,
many of us who may not have exactly fulfilled our aspirations
as we left Leverone Hall for the last time are comfortable
knowing that we have succeeded in other ways, perhaps either
in a personal pursuit or a business endeavor slightly outside
our original scope. Some of us are still seeking the experience
that we hope will define who we are or that will truly fulfill
us as persons, not only as professionals. Regardless, it seemed
that despite our professional situation, we were all reasonably
comfortable in our own skins.
While
details are a little blurred in my head (could it have been
from that purple concoction Saturday night or from the great
Merlot all weekend?), I can report on some general information
from some of the classmates who were at Reunion. The list
is quite long and my memory is bleak. If I missed someone,

One
last bit of news: As the result of such a positive response
to our reunion, we are going to make more of an effort to
keep in touch with all of you beyond the quarterly scope of
Kellogg World. I want to begin to communicate with you all electronically
via a Kellogg listserv for our class. This communication will
come from me to exchange information and update you on class
news, similar to what is currently being done in Kellogg
World, but hopefully more frequently than every three or
four months. It will not be used for "spam" or commercial
purposes, your email address will remain hidden from all readers,
and only authorized users may send messages via the listserv.
While we have many current email addresses, we realize that
the school does not have current contact information for many
of you. To that end, please update your personal information
through the Kellogg Alumni Network at kelloggalumni.northwestern.edu. Did you know that you can read Kellogg World
online? Not only that, you can submit news to me by either
emailing me directly (poat@comcast.net) or through the "submit news" feature: kellogg.northwestern.edu/kwo/submitnews.htm. Now there are no excuses — it's easy to contact
me! This reunion has shown us that each other's news, no matter
how small, is interesting. Please don't feel as though you
need a life-changing milestone event in order to share what
you're doing with the rest of the class.
Hope
to hear from you soon. Watch for an email from me shortly.
