2001
The
class news in this issue is filled with many, many birth announcements,
news from around the world and even a citizen's award. But
we went from an all-time record number of submissions to one
of the shortest yet! However, knowing that you all will make
up for it with news of many summer weddings, I'll just enjoy
the nice, easy issue and start getting ready for the flood
of wedding and travel news that I'm sure will arrive this
fall. Hope everyone is doing well!

Other News: On April 29, Jonathan Gonsky received a
Citizen Recognition Award, given by the Chicago Police Department
to reward his efforts in breaking up a strong-armed purse
snatching in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago!
Jon was returning home from his work as assistant manager
of the Evanston Home Depot store, when he witnessed a purse
snatching in progress. He jumped out of his car, tackled the
assailant to the ground and held him. The assailant broke
free as other citizens came to help, so Jon got up, chased
the assailant down the block, tackled him again and held him
until the police arrived. Jon's selfless actions led to the
arrest of the assailant and an accomplice. In other news,
Jon was recently promoted to store manager of a Chicago-area
store as part of the Home Depot corporate store leadership
program.

Pierre
LeComte '01 enjoys a going away party with Kellogg School
friends before he heads off to Sydney on a new assignment. |
|
Pierre
LeComte took both a promotion with Bain to manager and
a temporary six-month transfer from the San Francisco office
to Sydney, Australia. Of course, his Kellogg friends had a
proper SF send-off, with a cable-car pub crawl joined by Renee
Thibeault, Scott Barkley, Mark Gally,
Nicole Conti, Jason Erdell and Susan Donahoe
(from whom Pierre "recently had an amicable roommate divorce").
Pierre writes: "A few days later, I was on a flight to Oz,
where I'll remain until August, despite missing wedding after
Kellogg wedding back in the States this spring. (Sorry everyone.
I'll send boomerangs!) I invite my B-school 'mates' to come
Down Under and take surfing lessons with me out at Bondi Beach
sometime, or at least drink something Australian other than
Fosters Oil Cans (which pretty much don't exist here!)."
Isi
Okogun survived her first 11 months in Nigeria working
as a "repat." She writes: "I am still adjusting to many things,
but glad I made the decision to return. I am currently attending
my 10-year college reunion at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts,
and having a wonderful time. I plan to hook up with buddies
in the Chicago and New York areas while I am here." P.S. Isi,
my sincere apologies ... you will forever more be a "she"
in Kellogg World!
Jason
Schlueter was recently promoted to vice president, origination
strategy for Option One Mortgage Corp. Jason will be developing
long-term strategy for Option One's wholesale and national
accounts business units, as well as for H&R Block Mortgage
Corp.
Mark Rosen married Gunce Arkan on March 20 in the Puck Building
in New York City. Mark writes: "We met back in college, and
our wedding took place on the 10th anniversary of our very
first date. Andrew Bodziak, Jason Brady, Mark
Buschmann, Jason Erdell and Eric Haugen
were among those in attendance. Pierre LeComte phoned in his
respects from Sydney. We then took a fantastic two-week honeymoon
in French Polynesia, enjoying the paradise of Tahiti, Moorea
and Bora Bora." |
