Barry
T. Ulrich, founder and president of FerroLease Limitada,
has successfully implemented the first fleet of rented railroad
wagons in Brazil. The initial fleet of 100 covered hoppers
for grain transportation are rented to the Brazilian subsidiary
of the Louis Dreyfus Group. FerroLease is now in an expansion
phase, targeting 1,000 wagons by 2005 and 4,000 wagons by
2008. Incidentally, the wagons were painted Northwestern colors,
or at least as close as could be found in Brazil.
