Benelux
The night
of March 17 was a tense one, as the world watched in fascination
and fear about the war that was about to be unleashed in Iraq
... the world minus those lucky Kellogg students, alums and
friends who were welcomed into the folds of the U.S. Mission
to the European Union for a very special evening. Ambassador
Rockwell Schnabel and some of his senior staff welcomed Dean
Emeritus Donald P. Jacobs, Kellogg European Union GIM trip
students and the Benelux alumni with hearty hors díoeuvres
and even heartier conversation about topics ranging from the
impending conflict, to US-EU relations, to the challenges
of being a U.S. ambassador. The 35 people in attendance included
some special guests, among them former Unilever chairman Franz
Van den Hoven. The event was followed by an informal dinner
featuring typical Belgian cuisine. A good time was definitely
had by all!
Saturday May 17
was a good time to spend a weekend in Paris, with this yearís
MBA Update featuring marketing guru Philip Kotler. This was
an excellent occasion to refresh our marketing skills and
meet Kellogg alumni from all over Europe.
On June
21, the summer solstice, we took full advantage of the longest
day of the year with a friendly barbecue and Caribbean cocktail
party. For the latest information, check the European
alumni Web site.
