EMP-24

  The Powell Family

The Powell family: Greg EMP-24 class representative, wife Kelly, son Greg and daughter Erin

In May, I was promoted to vice president of human resources for Sears Logistics Services (SLS). SLS is a separate legal entity of Sears Roebuck & Co., responsible for moving hardlines and softlines merchandise to the stores, other distribution facilities and customer's homes. I have been working at Sears for almost four years in several HR capacities. This is a tremendous professional opportunity and I am both excited and overwhelmed. I will continue to draw from my Kellogg experience in my new capacity. My wife Kelly continues to be my best friend and strongest supporter. Our 14-year-old son, Greg, will attend high school in the fall. He will only do this, however, if I can remove the skateboard from his shoes. Erin, our 5-year-old daughter, is doing great and will be headed for kindergarten. She was our 3-month premature baby that has more than caught up with her age group. I have a polo shirt from our EMP days that has an illustration of two spiders standing anxiously next to a giant web at the bottom of a children's playground slide. They are waiting for their next, potentially large victim. The caption reads, "If we pull this off, we'll eat like Kings." Almost 11 years later I am happy to say that was an understatement.
