1940s

Kenneth Oehlerking '48 of Des Plaines, Ill., has been retired for a number of years from his management job at Peoples Gas in Chicago. He and his wife, Dorothy, have two children and remain active in church and social help activities. They also continue to enjoy camping in their trailer at Somonauk, Ill.

Robert Sanders '48 of Chicago worked 42 years as a stockbroker, retiring from Mesirow Financial in Chicago 10 years ago. He and his wife, Patricia Wolf (CAS '45), have four children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Bob enjoys golfing and travels to Europe and the Caribbean, and to California to visit the children.

Dr. Leon Bosch '48 of Holland, Mich., former professor and associate dean of our school, retired in 1976. He and his wife, Virginia, moved to a retirement community in Laguna Hills, Calif. There he was active in the administration of the community and served on the faculty of the University of California (Irvine). His gardening, golf and extensive foreign travel were then curtailed by worsening eyesight. He returned to Holland, Mich., where he grew up and attended Hoipe College. He and Virginia live in a retirement community there. We, his former students, are happy to salute him.

Karl Abt, class rep for '48, and his wife Donna attended the annual reunion of his WW II Military Intelligence Team 97 in Savannah, Ga., in May. The team was attached to a special task force active in five military campaigns in France, Belgium and Germany in 1944-45. During its reunion, the team enjoyed sightseeing in Savannah and recalled their experiences, celebrating their long camaraderie.
