Encore Performance: The Next Great Venture in Your Career, the Kellogg Dallas/Fort Worth Alumni Club’s ninth annual symposium, delivered cutting-edge advice to hundreds of business professionals at Southern Methodist University’s Collins Center on Feb. 1, 2014.
Symposium chairman Jeff King ’87, co-chair William P. Krueger ’86 and key event leads Matt Kurtz EMP-68 and Cheryl Clifford ’89, along with numerous volunteers from the Kellogg DFW Alumni Club board, found a great way to engage a broad range of alumni through balanced participation: Senior alumni including José Gutiérrez ’90, Marty Ellen EMP-14, Joe DePinto EMP-42 and Laura Gordon ’90 sponsored the event and recommended or provided key speakers; third-year alumni members assumed a prominent role in the event as speakers; core club members used the event as a networking and educational opportunity; and new alumni and prospective Kellogg applicants attended as invited guests. In addition, Linda Darragh, executive director of the Levy Institute for Entrepreneurial Practice at Kellogg, spoke to attendees, bringing them practical advice from her latest research.
With a focus on industry thought leaders, authors and professional trainers, the symposium guided attendees on the most recent hiring practices, leadership trends and entrepreneurial ideas in the field.
For the second straight year, proceeds from the event went to Transforming Together: a Campaign for Kellogg.
