Ann-Marie Peluso Vietti EMP-63 and husband Flavio Vietti on their wedding day |

Ann-Marie Peluso and Flavio Vietti were married Dec. 11 at Iglesia Anglicana de Santa Trinidad in Flavio’s hometown of Buenos Aires. In traditional Argentine fashion, they celebrated through the night and the next morning at the Lomas Athletic Club with about 130 family members and friends. The ceremony was at 8 p.m., the reception started at 9 p.m., opera tenors performed at 11 p.m., dinner took place from midnight to 2 a.m., they were dancing until 7 a.m. and the cake was cut at 6 a.m. The only significant (and welcome) surprise was the number of times Ann-Marie was carried around and tossed in the air by Flavio’s long-time rugby friends. We have asked her if she will be going by Ann-Marie Peluso-Vietti but she refused to answer. However, she has gone from initialing things AMP to AMPVqrstuvwzxyz.
Jim, Tricia and Liam Lott moved from Northern Virginia to France in mid-January. Jim accepted a new position at Lafarge headquarters in Paris, which will keep the family in Europe for three to five years (out in two with good behavior). They were able to find a great location across the river from the city in Saint-Cloud. This was a tough decision, given their intense dislike of food, wine and travel. Jim’s new role includes building a global portfolio and program management office focused on business process and technology for the Lafarge group globally. They are looking forward to having all of our Kellogg family visit early and often (several extra bedrooms for visitors). This makes four of our classmates with overseas assignments. Jim’s is the first to have the words "possible flight from prosecution" and "hitting the mattresses" as a part of the description.
And it was Super Bowl time again. Clem Johnson hosted Paul Del Gallo, Maureen Floeter-Calabrese, Ann-Marie Peluso Vietti, Flavio Vietti, Chris Brogan and anyone with a phone number in his directory to a close Super Bowl party. Brogan brought his children who made it worth having Chris. The plans made in New Orleans, long before the possibility of a New Orleans win, were scratched when single-night room prices started equaling home prices. A great time was had by all, whenever they were not near Paul, who continued to try to "recreate" great ads through poor imitations. New Orleans Mayor-elect Mitch Landrieu called to thank us for rescheduling our location, as he felt adding EMP-63 to the mix would have been too much for the town to take. They have been through a lot. Kim Jude did not show. Yeah, we did that on purpose.
Rosemary McGilicuty has undertaken her Olympic dream! Combining her two favorite competitions, figure skating and snowboarding, Rosemary is making her way to the five circles and getting ready to show her stuff. Although only an exhibition sport, figure board skating promise to combine an icy slope conquered by the competitor using two figure skates laced together. Rosemary is on her way to Lillehammer now. The Olympics are where? Oh man…
Roger Gregory, Paul Del Gallo, Anand Subramanian, Mikenzie Stephens Sari and a friend of Roger’s from work gathered in New York in December. Dinner and drinks were had at Tao, now a repeat haunt for EMP-63. Pictures were taken but the evidence was later destroyed. Most loved moment: everyone saying hi to Roger, not recognizing him with his hippie hairstyle. No, we are not kidding about that last comment. Roger looks like a hippie guitar player with accountant’s glasses. If you make our events, you can see them.
Abdo Abdo reports he, Wiener Mondesir and James Park got together for lunch before Christmas. The general topic was to laugh at all their EMP-63 classmates who were still in frozen climates.
Rafiq Mohammadi and Seiji Shinozaki met with Abdo Abdo in Santana Row. Nobody really knows what that means, and various non-family-friendly versions of what that might be have been rejected by those of us who prepare Kellogg World updates. It might just be someplace to eat in San Francisco, but who knows.
Eishin Takahashi reports that he had a chance to visit with James Park at the end of last year. He had his mother and aunt with him (both visiting from Japan) and they drove from San Francisco to Los Angeles. James picked them up at SFO and showed them the town. A great time was reported by all. However, Eishin’s mom and aunt asked why he and James kept chanting "go big or go home" and "suck the marrow from the bones" before drinking. Both Eishin and James declined to answer.
Rafiq Mohammadi and Paul Del Gallo got together in January for a recital featuring Rafiq’s daughter and dinner at Rafiq’s favorite Thai restaurant. The recital was like listening to angels sing through a violin. The dinner was like the vengeance demons take upon the sinful.
Yan Chan visited China again in October. He got a chance to visit the university he graduated from. Unable to find any of the classrooms he attended, and unable to fake being a student, he had his picture taken in front of a pagoda upon returning home.
Hari Vallurupalli graduated from the Advanced Management Program in Real Estate (AMDP) at Harvard last summer. This is a six-week program that takes place over the course of one year. It included real estate professionals from various countries (nine countries in their class of 18). It is designed for a cross-section of people, including architects, developers, financial people, etc. The program was taught by various professors from different Harvard schools, including business, law, design and architecture. Hari was granted Harvard alumni status from Harvard Design School. Various motions from EMP-63 members to have his Kellogg alumni status modified, revoked and marked with an asterisk were made. However, when word passed that after the picture of Hari, Paul Del Gallo, and Real Estate Program Dean Richard Pieser was taken, Hari and Paul left Kellogg coffee mugs and Kellogg pens all over the Harvard Faculty Club, those calls were retracted. Rumors that they inserted pictures of Dean Jain into the frames are an exaggeration. They only drew mustaches on the current pictures in the frames. Congratulations, Hari. |
