The Class of 1996 is seeking new leadership. Interested? Please contact kworld@kellogg.northwestern.edu. You may also send your news updates to that address.

I am sad to report that after six years, I (Robyn Runyan Glushik) will be stepping down from the position of class representative. This is the last issue of Kellogg World where I will be gathering and writing our class notes. I will be focusing on raising our 17-month old son and new baby daughter, which should keep me very busy for the next few years. I have truly enjoyed corresponding with everyone during this time period and look forward to seeing you all at our next Reunion. I would really appreciate someone stepping up to manage this occasional and enjoyable duty. Thanks for all your updates and correspondence to date!

Jai Shekawat completed 10 years of running Fieldglass, the software company he started in January 2000. The company has offices in London, Chicago and Mumbai and customers in 63 countries.

In May, Stephen Hiscott, Don Raftery, Andy Andress, Gary Ferrera, David Kniffin, Nick Reynolds and Peter Schmitz gathered for their annual golf outing. They traveled to Lake Lure, N.C., where Steven’s father graciously lent us his summer home. Nick won the prize for the most innovative commute (London to Chicago via plane, Chicago to North Carolina via Mini Cooper). Once arrived, Nick turned out to be a grillmeister extraordinaire wowing the group with his culinary talents. Stephen came out on top in the golfing contests and took home the trophy. We spent the weekend trying hard to destroy the local golf courses but despite our best efforts, nobody took us seriously. Maybe it’s the hats? In October, Andy, Gary and Peter ventured to Florida to play golf at the TPC at Sawgrass. The course certainly lived up to its reputation — beautiful and challenging. After Andy had taken most of our money from us, we managed to find a cheap restaurant despite a confused navigator (Peter). It ended, like so often, with the golf course having won.

Chip Walters and his wife Terry are in Avon, Conn., raising their two daughters, Sarah (12) and Sydney (9). He writes: "I’ve joined The Hartford in an innovation leadership role following several years with UnitedHealth Group and in an executive position in an early stage healthcare payments business. Terry has built a successful health counseling/cooking business and her recently published, best-selling cookbook, CLEAN FOOD, has put her on an exciting adventure (terrywalters.net). We see Clair and Chris Dowd frequently, as our kids swim together, and I’m looking forward to rejoining the ’96 Annual Golf Weekend in Colorado this summer after several years MIA. We enjoyed a quick and ‘cozy’ visit with Gary Ferrera and his crew while on a family ski holiday to Vail. I can be found at chip_walters@comcast.net."

Katherine McCormick Nygren married Steve Nygren during Labor Day weekend in Chicago. They went to Bali and Hong Kong for their honeymoon. There were several people from Kellogg at the reception, including Laura Heiss Varas and her husband Eduardo, Sandra Diaz ’97, Christina Radichel Caulkins, Yiorgos Bakamitsos, Julie Stahl Peachey, Carla Johnson Ravipati and Guenia Gawendo ’98, who flew in from Spain with her husband. Everyone had a great time!

Kevin Cuddeback appeared on the television show "Jeopardy" on Dec.16. He writes: "I was able to take my two older girls (8, 10) with me to see the whole thing. It was magic, really. My wife Kateryna took care of our youngest daughter (4) and our son (20 months) at home in Medford, Mass."

Vance Scott has been with A.T. Kearney since graduating from Kellogg. He leads the energy and process industries practice and was part of the team that conducted the management buyout to take the company private in 2006. Since then he’s been working extensively across the globe with significant time in Saudi Arabia. Last year he was elected to A.T. Kearney’s board of directors and chosen as one of the top 25 consultants by Consulting Magazine. Vance and his wife Mary Beth still live in Skokie, Ill., with their three kids.

Jon Faini, Ted Simpson, Tom Salentine and a friend from Williams enjoyed a recent trip to Tahoe (Squaw Valley). They enjoyed all the area had to offer with Ted skiing, Tom snowboarding and Jon snowboarding for the first time. A great time was had by all.

Andy Zimmerman, vice president of business development at Brainshark, helped launch and now heads up an innovative new social media site called myBrainshark.com, a free service for business people to create and share multimedia and e-learning content. He would love your feedback on the site. Contact him at azimmerman@brainshark.com. Andy lives in Sudbury, Mass., with his wife Monica and three kids (Jacob, 8, Ethan, 6, and Sophia, 4).

Philippe Bongrand writes that he is still living in Zürich, Switzerland, where he moved six years ago to work for UBS, heading strategy, marketing and client experience areas. After his consulting career, this position has been great to have hands-on experience and learn how to lead through the financial banking crisis. Philippe is regularly visited by Kellogg classmates. Most recently he has shared a memorable tennis game with Gregoire Tournant ’95 and Jean-Francois Schmid. He also enjoyed a visit with Yves Hanania ’94, who comes often with his family.

Susan Yakel Allen welcomed son Blake Matthew Allen on Jan. 11. Susan is on leave but previously had been working at Sun Microsystems (now Oracle!) and just found out she will be making the move to Oracle post-merger.

Michael Roark has taken a political appointment in the Obama administration as the chief administrative officer at the U.S. Department of Education. He writes: "We moved back to Washington (where I had been since Kellogg, primarily with BCG) from London where I was the chief financial officer of AOL Europe. My wife Nancy (a journalist) and I have three kids, each of whom lost her/his British accent within three weeks of returning."

Susan Clark gave birth to daughter Sophia Marie on Aug. 30. She writes: "She’s an absolute joy. In December, I went back to my job as director of marketing and communications at the High Museum of Art. I’ve been there about six years now. I am juggling full-time work and daycare, but I get lots of moral (and more) support from fellow Kelloggians here in Atlanta, like Kathleen Geils Fite and Lisa O’Connell Powell.

Andre Jackson writes to say that he’s relocated to Atlanta after 21 years in St. Louis. Andre was named editorial editor of Cox Enterprises’ flagship property, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and AJC.com, in April 2009. He’d previously worked at the AJC as senior editor of business, federal and state news since moving south in March 2008. Neither he, wife Lisa Burrows, nor children Alexander and Gabrielle miss Northern winters much.

Greg Sigel is living in Marin County, near San Francisco, with his wife Barbara and three kids. He writes, "I’m working for an exciting three-person software start-up, based in Boston, providing a better user interface for TV, mobile, cameras, GPS and other fun gadgets."

Parveen Ali Werner and Allison Pay Crawford attended a black tie benefit in February called "For the Love of Chocolate." It was hosted by the French Pastry School of Chicago. Parveen’s company, Barry Callebaut, was one of the sponsors of this amazing event. Parveen had the opportunity to wear a real chocolate dress. Yes, all chocolate! They both had a wonderful time.

Jonathan Isernhagen welcomed son Thomas Glenn in May.

Betty Rhiew-Breslin, her husband Mike, and her family spent a great weekend of fun in the sun last summer with DJ and Kris Kisska Mehigan and their family in Wrightsville Beach, N.C. Glasses of wine on the beach in the mid-afternoon were just the ticket to complete relaxation for the long weekend.
