Debbie Fuhr writes from London with this update: "I joined Barclays Global Investors (now known as BlackRock) in 2008 as the managing director and global head of exchange-traded fund research and implementation strategy. Prior to BGI, I was with Morgan Stanley in London for just over 11 years as the managing director and head of the investment strategy team, which helped institutional investors implement asset allocation using exchange-traded funds, certificates, swaps and futures. In September, I was named in the third annual ‘FN100 Women,’ which is Financial News’ pick of the 100 most influential women in financial markets. I have been honored to be included in this list for the last two years. I have lived and been based in London since 1995 but spend most of my time traveling around the world to work with clients and present at various conference and events.
"Here is an excerpt from the Wall Street Journal article on the FN100 Women: ‘Ms. Fuhr has been through a year of upheaval. She left Morgan Stanley after 11 years when the bank closed down her team in the summer of 2008, and then her new employer was put up for sale by its parent, Barclays PLC. Through it all, Ms. Fuhr has remained the No. 1 authority on the exchange-traded fund landscape, an area in which banks and asset managers are keen to expand as investors seek liquid products with greater transparency. She is based in London but works with clients across Europe, the U.S. and emerging markets.’"
