Thank you to all who continue to stay in touch with me and respond to my e-mails. Very few classmates took time to provide updates and many of you have not kept current with your e-mails so I am unable to get the directory out to you. Did you get that? I don't have many of your e-mails so you need to send me yours please. Please send me a note with your current info so that I can share with others in the directory.
J. Fred Brunk reports he got a big raise this last year because both of his older sons finished college and are employed. Alex is working on the hill in D.C. and Chris is an investment banker specializing in distressed firms in New York. Patrick (14) is keeping Jeannie and himself young. Fred is getting in shape to lead a group of Boy Scouts on a 70-mile trek in the mountains of New Mexico this summer. He is still at Siemens and has all the usual activities of keeping his head down during "right sizing" and has landed a large contract with the USPS that is going to keep him busy for many months to come.
Brian L. Rucks shared that he joined the practice of Donna M. Rucks and Associates last year. They have offices in two locations, Chicago and Valparaiso, Ind. Traveling the snow-covered highways and back roads of Illinois and Indiana in their sleigh has been a great and memorable time for Brian during this last winter. Next year he might be getting a snowboard to make the journey to the office.
Here is a note from Timothy R. Schulte: "I have decided to take early retirement from Intel after 10 years. I continue to live in Munich, Germany, where I was transferred by Intel in 2005. I am writing a book on life in Germany and am looking for a publisher. My next step after that will be to look for a job in the public or nonprofit sectors. If you are ever in the area, here is my contact info: e-mail at timschulte@stanfordalumni.org and address: Belfort Strasse 8 / 81667 München, Germany and phone: +49 (0) 173-363-2918.
Erik E. Olson is still at Greenfield Consulting Group in Denver doing qualitative research. Among the favorite topics of research this year: "Why young men want to become Army officers?" and "Do IT managers use Google when they get stumped?" Ulrich Kammholz and his wife Anne visited Erik at his mountain cabin last fall and he said that "everyone," and he means everyone, is welcome to come up this year! Just give him a call.
Here's some news from John C.T. Dodgen: "Our Kellogg study group has intentions for a reunion in Chicago this winter (R. Scott Blankenship, Sally A. Faber, Harry M. Johns, Michael M. Nanney and Lee J. Spruit). My oldest son graduated from Duke Law and is a lawyer in Chicago, the second son is on his way to med school and the oldest daughter is halfway through nursing school. Now if I can get a dentist, preacher, veterinarian and auto mechanic out of the next four kids, well, then I can retire!
"Last summer we took the family on a mission trip to Arizona with our local church to spread the gospel to the Tohona Odahm Indian Nation. What an honor and blessing."
After two years at Fidelis Senior Care, where he developed and implemented a medical management model to safely and efficiently care for institutionalized Medicare beneficiaries, S. Scott Sarran joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois as their chief medical officer on May 1. Scott is responsible for a staff of approximately 250 nurses, medical directors and pharmacists. He also is responsible for all medical management activities, including quality, utilization, case and disease management. We wish you well, Scott, and hope that you keep us up to date on the progress.
It was good to hear from Vince A. Inendino who passed on the following: "Hey everyone. Just a few quick updates. Greg A. Orlando, Mike J. Bauer and I are still close friends. Greg took a new job at Medline in 2008, and he seems to be enjoying it there. Mike has a significant other, but I shall withhold his/her name to protect the innocent. As for me, my son Vinnie will be graduating from Northwestern in June and Jonathan will be finishing his junior year of high school. Time is sure flying by, so Terry and I are just enjoying every moment we can with them. To that end, we just went down to the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. It's really too bad the Cats didn't win, but it was still a great game and we had a fantastic time. I'm still at Schneider Electric North American Operating Division as vice president of finance."
