Barry Blankfield was promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps.

John Bye was promoted to vice president at Campbell Alliance. He and his wife also had their first baby, Zachary Thomas Bye.

Alex Kent and his wife Jamie had their second child, Hanna, in July. Alex finished 2008 as one of the top producing commercial real estate brokers in the Bay Area, due to his advisory work for The Carlyle Group on Class A office and data center investments.

Dr. Sadhna Paralkar started as chief operating officer at Altruista Health (altruistahealth.com), a company she co-founded with two fellow ex-UnitedHealth colleagues in 2008. Altruista Health is a global care management technology and service firm dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals via effective use of information and technology. Altruista Health has a state-of-the-art patient management software and service solution that can be used by health insurance companies, doctors' offices and independent practice associations to manage their patients effectively, ideal for a medical home model.

Holly Jones and her husband Bill welcomed their third child, Lucas William Jones, on Nov. 8. Big sister Emily and big brother August are excited about their new little brother.

Christine Arylo (Schneider) had her first book published: Choosing ME before WE, The Every Woman's Guide to Life and Love (mebeforewe.com). Christine uses her Kellogg degree in her work as an inspirational catalyst for women, author, coach and speaker.

In November, Bo Sandine visited Dave Ramaswamy '02 and his girlfriend Kendra Carpenter in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a week. Prior to visiting Dave, he flew to Colorado to volunteer and canvass door-to-door for Barack Obama. While there, he stayed with Cathryn Olchowy '02 in Superior, Colo., just outside of Boulder.

Christina Konieczka is the U.S. college recruiting manager for Mercer. She is responsible for the on-campus recruiting strategy for Mercer nationally, including workforce planning and university relationship management. She is the co-chair of the evaluations and trends committee of the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers and the co-chair of the 2009 Trends in Recruiting Conference for the organization. She and her husband reside in Downers Grove, Ill., with their two children, Anya and Lucas.

Melissa Halac married Brian Shields at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Feb.14. Melissa is the senior manager of strategic pricing at the U.S. pharma division in Abbott Laboratories and Brian works in finance at Abbott.
