New

Alumni
Club of New York (KACNY)
The
Kellogg Alumni Club of New York is planning an exciting and
compelling 2006. This
year, our aim is to provide a selection of events that are
both fun and interesting — like our alums.
We're
very involved with the other Northwestern alumni clubs in
New York. In the spring, the club is co-sponsoring an event
titled "How the New Media is Rewriting the Rules of Business
for Consumers, Providers and Advertisers" with the Medill
Club of Greater New York and the NU Club of Greater New York.
In partnership with the Northwestern Alumni Association, KACNY
is co-sponsoring "A Night with Northwestern in New York,"
featuring Northwestern's Broadway stars in a musical performance.
Our
business-focused events planned for the spring include a career
management event with panelists discussing ways to manage
career transition for better compensation and position. Panelists
will include executive recruiters who work exclusively with
the senior management ranks. KACNY will continue its Executive
Breakfast Briefings with topics including "Best Practices
for Developing Competitive Intelligence" designed for
marketers, consultants and strategic planners and "Developing
Your M&A Strategy" for corporate and financial executives.
Because
our favorite small town of New York City has more than 30
MBA alumni clubs, we are fortunate to offer invitations to
selected "partner club" events to our members. In
April, some alumni will be attending the daylong CFO Leadership
Forum hosted by The Executive Forum. This prestigious invitation-only
event features CEO and CFO panelists from some of the world's
leading organizations.
Not
neglecting our interest in fun, we've initiated a special
"division" of the club called TG-NY, which will
organize and provide information about social and cultural
events in New York, including our quarterly TG Happy Hours.
Co-chairs are Karen White '04 and Kristen Mitchell
'04. The TG-NY team has also been busy planning social,
volunteer, sports and inter-school networking events. The
winter season was kicked off with a TG at Stout in
midtown Manhattan, and in late February, Kellogg and Darden
hosted a networking mixer for recent graduates. Jimmy Rojas
'05 is organizing a team of Kellogg students to participate
in the ZogSports soccer league, which donates a portion of
proceeds to local charities. Finally, Christine Cabot Bini
'04 is organizing a Kellogg team to participate in NYCares
Volunteer Day in April.
Of
course, the club could always use an additional helping hand
(or 20). There are a variety of ways to become involved, including
leading or volunteering at an event, joining the board or
simply coming out to learn, enjoy and support KACNY events.
Thank you again to all of the Kellogg alums who have already
volunteered their time and skills in 2005-2006, including
our new club communications director, Nishea V. Clark '02.
The
Kellogg Alumni Club of New York looks forward to having a
wonderful year of growth and great events. We hope you can
join us.
