EMP-55

Martin Arron and his wife Lori Hotz recently relocated to New York City. Martin left Northwestern Hospital and is currently pursuing a new opportunity in New York. Good luck to Martin and Lori in the Big Apple!

Lynn Bromstedt hosted a benefit for The Super Jake Foundation to benefit neuroblastoma research. Classmates Tracey Quinn and Maria Sullivan were in attendance to support this great cause.

Chander Chawla and Jim Cohick ran the Chicago Marathon. Jim ran with a CURE colleague of his from Malawi which was fun for him. Chander says it's his 8th time running this marathon. Flavio Cardoso is still running but did only part of the Chicago marathon as a training run for a marathon in which he hopes to run on Dec 3rd. Jim, Chander and Flavio all report leg injuries but they keep running. Hooray to Jim and Chander for a successful completion and good luck to Flavio in December!

Jim Cohick joined the Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago as their administrator starting Dec. 1 Jim is the co-leader with the medical chief of staff, sharing the ultimate leadership direction and management for the facility, reporting to the board of governors.

Chander Chawla hosted some friends from EMP-55 at the Indian Grill in Lincoln Park in November. Thanks to Chander for a delicious dinner and a fun evening!

Kevin Cleary and Roy Hillier competed in the Ironman Wisconsin on Sept. 11. KC completed it in 14:27:20 and Roy in 14:38:45. It was 95 degrees with 85 percent humidity and roughly 25-mph winds for their swim/bike/run. Great job, guys!

Roy Hillier and his wife Vanessa Borchers became proud parents of Gabriella Anna Borchers Hillier on Dec. 3. Congrats to Roy and Vanessa! Congrats also to Vanessa on her graduation from EMP-61. It was a big December for the Hilliers!

Eleanor Chou reports that she's still alive, happy, married to the same husband and hasn't recently added any more kids! She bought a gorgeous condo in Shanghai since she spends so much time there now.

Bill Daley is now executive director of public finance for Morgan Stanley. Bill has moved to New York. His wife Aimee and their daughter Stella will be relocating there in March. Congrats to Bill on his new position. Now we have two EMP-55 people from the same study group living in Manhattan (Bill Daley and Martin Arron)!  

Sharon Folliard (me) married Lance Driskill on July 3 in Beaver Creek, Colo.  It was a beautiful wedding if I do say so myself! We were married at 10,000 feet so my groom could experience the snow-covered mountains in the summer. It was a weekend filled with fun, friends and family. All enjoyed golf, rafting, paintball, hiking, spas, shopping, great food, great views and of course, our wedding! Thanks to all my Kellogg friends who joined us and made it a very special day!

Sharon also hosted her annual Air Show party on Aug. 21. Party guests included Wayne Sottile, Mike Cassady, Bob Shanahan, Gurpreet Singh, Tracey Quinn, Leah Campen-Klepitsch, Michael Spencer, Mark Straszynski, Kimberly Meyer EMP-53 Melissa Macek EMP-53 Gary Raju EMP-54, Marguerite Fernandez EMP-59. It was a perfect sunny day to watch the planes fly and spend time with classmates.

Cristina Gomez has a new title at Otto and Sons. She is now the assistant vice president of beef operations in their corporate office. She's at a different address but still working in Aurora and was profiled in the October issue of National Provisioner. She's already having fun doing press conferences. Congrats to Cristina! Cristina also is moving back to Chicago. She just got a new apartment at Canal and Adams.

Johns Adams and his wife Renee have a new son. Robert George was born Jan. 25 and was 7 pounds, 13 ozs. John reports that his son has very strong lungs and really likes to be awake at night. Congrats to John and Renee!

Martin Arron and his wife Lori Hotz have a new baby. Martin reports a miraculous end to 2005 with the arrival of Louis Max Arron on Dec. 29! He arrived at 10:34 a.m. with a fiesty spirit, a full head of black hair and a weight of 7 pounds, 5 ounces Despite his diminutive stature, he left his parents spellbound. Lori, Martin and their families are already smitten. We can't wait to meet little Max very soon. Congrats to Martin & Lori!

Lynn Bromstedt reports that the evening she organized for The Super Jake Foundation collected $80,000 at their first event. Great job Lynn!

Flavio Cardoso recently was promoted within Motorola to business operations director on the account team responsible for the Alltel cellular infrastructure business. Congrats to Flavio! He also reports that due to leg injuries he has not recently been able to complete any marathons and will now start cycling.

John Kelly has joined the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company and loves it! After leaving Kraft in March 2004, he took a position with PepsiCo. In June of this past year, he joined Wrigley as one of three marketing directors. The organization is structured around four consumer-need states or platforms, and he is responsible for the oral care platform which includes the brands: Orbit, Orbit White and Freedent. Johns reports that Wrigley is a very dynamic company and going through a tremendous amount of growth and revitalization, which is creating lots of opportunities.

Lilia Kiselev hosted the EMP-55 women at her home on Aug. 22. The evening revolved around an Asian theme. In attendance were Amy Kovalan, Sharon Folliard, Maria Sulliava, Kathleen Burandt, Tracey Quinn, Susan Forsell, Leah Campen-Klepitsch and Lynn Bromstedt.

Amy Kovalan married Edward Kerros on August 5 at Old St. Pat's Church in Chicago. Amy was a beautiful bride and the couple had a lovely dinner reception at Ben Pao followed by bowling (yes, bowling) at 10Pin, owned by EMP-55's Michael Spencer.  The bowling was a blast!

Shawn McComb is now the vice president of planning and marketing for the risk management and business intelligence division of Deere and Company. His new responsibilities include creating a $150 million business within five years. He'll be responsible for identifying, evaluating and formulating all new products and services under Deere's risk management and business intelligence portfolio. The risk area includes insurance, derivatives, warranties and risk services. The business intelligence area includes various knowledge-intensive commercial information services. Congrats to Shawn on this exciting opportunity!

Shari Litow and her husband David Aschheim have a new baby! Seth Litow Aschheim was born Jan. 17. I met him last weekend and he sure is a cutie! Shari, David, Nathan and Seth are living in Wilmington, Del., for Shari's job with Dupont doing business development for the Omega 3 market.

Paul Pappageorge was renovating a new home in the same neighborhood and planning to move his family in February.

Tracey Quinn married Jeff Calabrese on July 16 in Maui. Tracey and Jeff had two marriage ceremonies. The first was a traditional Christian ceremony at the Ritz Carlton Chapel, which is situated near a cliff overlooking the ocean. The second was a traditional Hawaiian ceremony with all of the ancient rituals. Both were unique and truly beautiful!  The happy couple invited friends and family to join them for a luau to celebrate their marriage! All had a great time including Sharon Folliard and Amy Kovalan. Congrats again to Tracey and Jeff!

Gupreet Singh has been promoted to the level of Partner at DiamondCluster, a strategy and technology advisory consulting firm. He is responsible for DiamondCluster's IT strategy service offering and also launched DiamondCluster's center for technology innovation in 2001. Gupreet leads sales and client work in the financial services and healthcare industry sectors. In addition to graduating from Kellogg, Gupreet also holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Northwestern University. Congrats to Gupreet!

Wayne Sottile and Kim Wrobleski both left their left positions and are currently evaluating new opportunities.

Kim Wroblewski hosted the women of EMP-55 at her home for some pre-holiday cheer.  We had a delicious dinner and Kim even started scrapbooks for each of us to take home as gifts. Dinner and craft projects Š we're amazed at her energy! Thanks to Kim for a lovely evening!

Mike Smedley invited Sharon Folliard and Cristina Gomez to come put up his Christmas tree this past December. Mike sat on the couch and gave direction while Cristina risked her life to hang ornaments on the tip-top of a very tall tree (just kidding, Mike). Seriously, we had a great weekend with Mike, Kristin and the kids at their new home in the Philly area. Mike and Kristin are great hosts and we loved those real Philly cheese steaks!

Mike and his wife Kristen also took their eldest son Mike Jr. on a trip to Disney World. Kristen looked fabulous in her Disney princess tiara.

Michael Spencer was married on Feb. 18 in Beverly with a reception following at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago. Congrats to Michael and Linsday!
