EMP-33

Hello EMP-33! Our 10-year reunion is upcoming in May. Look for details soon about a special gathering just for EMP-33.

John Chiminski was promoted to vice president and general manager of GE's Magnetic Resonance Business about a year ago. More importantly, John reports his kids are now 12, 8 and 6, and they have added two dogs to the mix to make it even more exciting. John reports lots of travel, but still finding great time with the family.

Sam Liang reports that since the J&J purchase of Guidant did not go through, he has been assigned additional responsibilities with Cordis Endovascular as vice president of commercial operations, in addition to his role in the stroke division. Sam and Kelly continue to do well in Chester, N.J. and invite anyone passing through the New York City area to call.

Julie Tolan and Mark Wiesman wrote that they are well, and Julie has volunteered to help plan the reunion. Sean Kerins reports that David Donatelli and John Oldershaw will join the rest of the gang at Reunion.

Barry McCarthy is still at First Data surviving the tumult of a new CEO and the recently announced spin-off of Western Union. Barry's wife Jean Ann and all three kids (3, 4 and 7) are well, happy and enjoying skiing nearly every weekend in Colorado.

Chris Karas wrote that she is in Philadelphia (Bryn Mawr) and really enjoying it. She is going on her third year at Victrex, a high performance materials company. After working for a U.S.-based company for years, Chris reports that it still is a little different to be working for a U.K. entity with all the British quirks! Chris runs the Americas business and reports much travel. Chris says her home life tends to revolve around her boys (now 6 and 8!) and their soccer, lacrosse, basketball, etc. games and practices. She is also planning lots of skiing this year, in Utah, Switzerland and Montana.

Karl Saunders has been traveling frequently to Brazil with a group from the Renzo Gracie Academy for training and competition in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Karl is already a brown belt in Kachido Aiki Jitsu and was awarded a blue belt by Renzo Gracie in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in New York City on Oct. 8. As part of Saunix Management Ltd., Karl has been involved in teaching self-defense strategies for corporate executives.
