Alex Dimitrijevic ’99, Shailen Banker ’97, Michigan alumni club President Mike Petix ’99, Shankar Kiru ’99 and Vice President Jeff Wagner ’96 met Dean Dipak C. Jain at the Detroit Athletic Club during the Kellogg Alumni Club of Michigan holiday party.

Michigan

The Michigan club hosted Dean Jain, Stephanie Freeth and Karyn McCoy at its holiday reception, held at the elegant Detroit Athletic Club. Dean Jain talked to more than 50 alumni from around metro Detroit, Ann Arbor and Toledo, both about the state of Kellogg and his efforts to connect with clubs around the globe.

We have also started partnering more with other top business school clubs in the area. We had a great turnout for the January TG where, in honor of our top ranking, the Harvard B-school club treated hungry Wildcats to appetizers at our regular meeting place. We typically meet the second Thursday of every month at Copper Canyon in Southfield for TGs. The University of Michigan B-school joined us in February and the Wharton Club in March. Harvard also hosted the Kellogg club at its night with the CEO of the Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills, and Wharton invited us to hear the head bankruptcy attorney discuss the Jacobson case at Oakland Hills Country Club (sight of the 2004 Ryder Cup ó unfortunately we didn't play golf).

Jeff Wagner '96 organized another successful family skiing and snowboarding weekend up north at the Boyne Highlands in February. There may still be a couple of seats remaining in the Covisint Suite for the Pistons game in April, hosted by Shankar Kiru '99, vice president of business development and strategy of the e-commerce firm. Kellogg alums will be treated to dinner in the private Covisint Club before the Pistons clobber the Bulls.

We have added another executive to our growing crew to help us add more high-profile speaker events. We welcome Jennifer Crowley '01 to our team. Jennifer will be orchestrating our next major event, scheduled for June. Details to be announced soon. Also watch our site, or make sure you are on the email list to get the details on upcoming events, such as business round tables, NU games, the annual golf outing and the summer barbecue.

We have been happy to see more alumni coming out. We believe it is because the quality of our events is improving and the network is growing. To keep this trend heading in the right direction, the club has begun subsidizing the cost of some events with corporate donations, its profits to date and nominal dues from active members, which we initiated in 2003. You don't need to pay dues to show up, but your support will help us to continue our work. We also need more help on the executive committee for those willing to offer a little time. Call Mike Petix '99 if you are interested. Thanks to all Michigan and Toledo alumni for helping the club gain its momentum. Now, let's keep it going.
