Atlanta
The Atlanta
alumni club has a full schedule of spring events planned:
An MBA Update, "The Economics of Sports and the Business of
Baseball," on April 5; a breakfast leadership series with
Sergio Zyman on April 24; and a career event at 6 p.m. April
29. Contact Rick Berg at rberg@northhighland.com for
details. Monthly TG's are held the second Wednesday of each
month at 7 p.m. at The Park Tavern.
The Atlanta club
is pleased to announce the upcoming MBA Update that will take
place in Atlanta on April 5. The event features Professor
David Dranove. He will lead a group discussion in an academic
format on the "The Economics of Sports and the Business of
Baseball: Is the Strike Zone too Wide? Creating and Capturing
Value in Professional Sports." Of course, this won't be your
typical classroom, as the event will take place at the 755
Club at Turner Field. Complementing the academic experience
will be an invigorating exchange led by a panel of Kellogg
alumni and experts in the sports world. The afternoon events
will be followed by dinner and the game (Atlanta Braves versus
Florida Marlins). Further details will be posted on the Kellogg
Web site at www.kellogg.northwestern.edu.
We are also pleased
to announce that we are starting a breakfast leadership series
in conjunction with Wharton. Our first breakfast with a leader
is April 25 with Sergio Zyman. Details will be posted online
shortly, or contact Sarita Soldz at ssoldz@mindspring.com
for more information. Special thanks to Carter Burton for
volunteering to help out with this event.
Both club leaders,
Chris Tomseth and Sarita Soldz, attended the annual Kellogg
leadership conference for alumni club heads held in January
in Evanston. Part of that weekend of events included hearing
from Dean Dipak Jain on his vision for the school. He spoke
about how he wants Kellogg to be known for leadership the
Kellogg way: team leadership, thought leadership and market
leadership. Additionally, other key initiatives at the school
include a new alumni system platform (alumni database) and
a ramp-up of staff in the Office of Alumni Relations.
While the Atlanta
alumni club has two club leaders, the idea is that one club
leader will step down each year and one will remain to encourage
the continuation of new ideas and to sustain the club in Atlanta.
The Atlanta alumni club is looking for volunteers to help
with the club, and for people interested in being a leader
on the club's board. Club leadership is very manageable with
a full-time job, and an excellent opportunity to network in
the Atlanta community. If you are interested in helping out,
please contact Sarita Soldz at ssoldz@mindspring.com,
or during the day at 770.368.8010 Ext. 1140. Also, please
feel free to contact any of the club officers regarding getting
involved: Kyle Antcliff (kantcliff@fusepath.com), vice
president, social events; Rick Berg (rberg1995@kellogg.northwestern.edu),
vice president, careers; and Chris Tomseth (ctomseth1998@kellogg.northwestern.edu),
co-president.
We look forward
to seeing Atlanta alumni at our events this spring.
