EMP-38

Juanita and Larry Brand's two sons will both be attending Stanford University in the fall. (Obviously Kenny and Zachary inherited both their parents' good looks and intelligence.) Proud Papa says, "Both sons will be wearing the cardinal and shouting that famous slogan: 'BEAT CAL!' We hear they have a business school too ... "

The EMP-38 Motorola contingent has been very busy. Larry Brand and Neal Campbell got together over the holidays. Larry recently expanded his role to include global GSM and CDMA infrastructure bid management. Neal is senior director for location-based services in the personal communications (cell phone) sector. Larry attended a meeting in the UK and met up with fellow EMP-38'er Mary Bouska, who has recently taken a position with the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Clyde Rundle is now a partner in RMG Partners, a boutique, retainer-based executive search firm located in Lincolnshire, Ill. Although they specialize in manufacturing/industrial executive placements, they also have recruited executives for financial services and direct marketing organizations. Clyde can be reached at cdr@rmg-search.com, or by phone at 847.382.2225. You can find out more at www.rmg-search.com.

Gary Weiss, in addition to retaining his role as chief financial officer of the ENH Medical Group, has been promoted to senior vice president of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. This expands his role to the activities of the hospitals, in addition to his principal activities with the employed physicians (medical group).

Ed O'Malley was recently named senior vice president of business development for the Cincinnati Stock Exchange. In what would be a great case study, the business on the Exchange grew from about 15,000 trades per day to about 450,000 trades per day in a one-month period last February. This makes Cincinnati the third largest exchange in the country. In addition to Ed's job expanding, so is his family. He and his wife Kathy welcomed their fourth child, Ryan George, this past July.

Bob Simoncini and his wife Paula are doing well. Bob accepted an early retirement from Lucent Technologies and is teaching English composition and marketing at Columbia College Chicago. He absolutely loves his work and vows never to return to the "corporate grind."

Jerry Gerami and his wife welcomed their second son, William, into the world July 30. Jerry recently joined AT&T as the global accounts vice president responsible for the Midwest region.

Michael Goolden is now president of GE Small Business Finance. Mike and his family moved to St. Louis a few years ago.

Darryl Branch has been promoted to vice president of customer service for North America from his previous position as director of customer service in Atlanta. He relocated from Atlanta to New York in February. Darryl has moved so much that he might consider buying an old band's touring bus ... Jerry Lincoln suggested the Partridge Family bus might be available.

Donna Calk, Steve Calk Jr. and Steve Calk EMP-38 visit with Santa.

Stephen M. Calk Jr. was born Oct. 29 at 7 lbs.,11 oz. Steve Calk and his wife Donna are enjoying parenthood and doing well. Low interest rates and strong processing helped Chicago Bancorp have its biggest year ever, with more than $1 billion in business.

Joe Danahy reported that he's currently working for Price Waterhouse Coopers and is doing well. Good to hear from you, Joe.

Tom Hajduch reports that he's still with Bank One and living on Lakewood in the city. He's busy, busy, busy.

Scott Etzler reports that things are going well at Intercall and he and his wife Becky moved from Wilmette, Ill., to Winnetka, Ill., earlier this year.

Pete Haupers and Larry Kosinski continue to pursue their medical practices while hammering away at their company, Mobile Clinician. Check it out at www.mobileclinician.com. Larry says all is well with him, and he and his wife are enjoying being empty nesters.

My proudest moment in the past few months was being asked to become an honorary member of EMP's PIG group ó HP for short. First the West Nile, next the swine flu. Thanks PIGS!

Finally, on a personal note and on behalf of EMP-38, I want to thank Larry Brand. Larry has been my co-writer for Kellogg World for the past three years. He is stepping aside to free himself up to go to Stanford games. Besides being a heck of a smart guy, he's a heck of a nice guy. I'm hoping we'll still hear from you, Larry.
