Betsy Dunne started a new job in September with The Picture People, a national retail portrait studio in malls around the country, as marketing director. Betsy says, "I work with a very fun group of people and I'm still doing musicals in my 'spare' time. I start rehearsing 'Singin' in the Rain' next week and it opens in April."

Skip Ashmore wrote that he and Jenny and are in Atlanta with a brood of five (Morgan, 12, Aly, 10, Hannah, 8, Andrew, 6, and Walker, 4). "All are healthy, happy and growing like weeds. Jenny never ceases to amaze me with what she can accomplish. She is doing yeoman's work managing the household, staying very active with the various PTA activities and keeping the kids on track with school and all their extracurricular activities. I have been with CryoLife for more than six years and am now vice president, marketing, and enjoying it immensely despite the recent downturn of events (FDA recall). I occasionally see James Fischer who is with Fusion (a competitor of ours)."

David "Mock Turtleneck" Hall turned 40 this month, and though there were some photos his mom put together showing off his "six pack" in high school, he's looking better than ever thanks to his Bikram yoga training regimen. It's clear that with a huge new job managing a large real estate development on the south shore of Boston, time for his lovely wife Meredith and three kids, Hallsey is setting a high standard for everyone approaching or having hit the big 4-0.

Edward "SB" Keller has left his position as chief salmon inspector in the government's fishing business to become managing director at Morgan Stanley in Boston. He's low key about it, but he wanted everyone to know that he changed a tire on his car yesterday in his suit, so he's still cool.

Sam Zales keeps me up-to-date on a few things. He and Leslie are working on a growing family, while Sam is the president and chief executive officer of BuyerZone.com

Susan and Eric von Coelln have been focused on Karl, 4, and Katherine, 2. Karl got to select an Indian name at school and chose "Falcon Eating Mice." Eric continues as director of marketing operations at DoubleClick ó a dot-com survivor with an ever-expanding staff.

Anne and Jeff Veis proudly announced the arrival of Jonathan Pierson Veis, born Oct. 4 at a bouncing 7 lbs., 7 ozs. Jonathan will be joining his thrilled brother and sister, Jeremy, 8, and Jennifer, 4, at their home in Saratoga, Calif. Jeff is enjoying the ongoing trials and tribulations of the post dot-com crash world as senior director of strategic alliances at Sun Microsystems. Last year he founded the Liberty Alliance Project, (www.projectliberty.org), which is a business alliance of more than 100 companies to drive an open standard for network. Happy to hear from all at jeff.veis@sun.com.

Sonya Grier and vEnessa Acham, both ’91, meet for tea at a café profiled by Andre Crump, also ’91, in his book.

Sonya Grier and vEnessa Acham met for a spot of herbal tea at a cafÈ featured in The Cafes of San Francisco by Andre Crump. Sonya is a marketing professor in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. vEnessa is on assignment in California from New Hampshire with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as a strategist.

Chris Maccarone is still in Minneapolis with Northwest Airlines (since graduation). Chris writes, "I don't believe I ever 'officially' wrote in about my wedding, but I got married in July 2001. Lai and I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for our honeymoon." (That's 19,340 feet with no supplemental oxygen!) Last summer the couple had their first baby, William Urban, who was born on Aug. 30, weighing in at 5 lbs. 12 oz. and measuring 20 inches. So, although William is lighter than Jessica Zales, I figure he is taller than she is!

Thanks to those who sent in some news. I'll be "retiring" as column author. It's been a fun 12 years, but the duties of being a mom and doing all this beer "research" until 4 a.m. are taking their toll. I believe there are several volunteers who will be willing to take on my duties, but if there are other interested authors, please contact Kellogg World. It's been lots of fun we have a great class!
