EMP-47

The months since graduation have gone by fast, but many of our classmates have attended recent EMP-47 get together. In September several of us met at Goose Island Brewery for an evening of beverages and billiards during the holidays many made it to both suburban and city events, and there was also an outing to see the Shackleton movie at the IMAX. The review of the movie was good although Tony Green mentioned that he felt it just wasn’t the same without Prof. Messick’s post-movie comments and analysis.

A few of our classmates who have changed jobs include: Barry Metzger, who is vice president of operations for Woodard LLC; Diedra Gold who is a senior vice president and general counsel with United Stationers; Greg Swanberg who started GJ Swan Ltd., a consulting firm providing corporate utilities and facilities management strategy; and Emmett Vaughn, who has started Fidelity Print Communications, LLC.

It’s been a busy several months for EMP-47 career advancement. Congratulations to those receiving promotions at their companies including, Aileen Blake, Harvey Brownlee, Karl Buscher, Frank Carroll, Keith Hutchinson, Augustin Mason, Vivian Mumaw, Don Versen and J.T. Weis.

Congratulations are also in order for our classmates who are new parents. Ray and Kathleen Finato recently had a new baby boy Joey and Madeleine and Jeff Swallow had a baby boy Conner.

Derrick Evans will be riding in the 180 mile annual BP Multiple Sclerosis Bike Tour in April. He and 9000 other cyclists will ride from Houston to Austin to raise money to support MS research, programs and education.

Keep in mind that the Kellogg Reunion is coming up May 3-5. Nikola Vajda has volunteered to be on the planning committee for the reunion and is hard at work helping to coordinate the events of the weekend. Hope to see all of you there!
