EMP-40
Ray
Siegel had a study group holiday extravaganza at his home
in December. Subbing for one absent member was Chris Ksoll,
who had an absolute blast. Ray's wife could take out Martha
Stewart in a New York second. Rich Daly told funny
stories from his travels in Japan. Mark Zurcher's newest
promotion was discussed in detail. Dave Bungum offered
his perspective on world affairs. Greg Irving talked
about what it's like to audit fellow EMPers at his company.
Even Jeff Barker was considered present, as he was
chimed in via cell phone and then speaker phone. A great evening
was had by all.

John
Bell, EMP-40, and the crew of "Dr. Detroit,"
the ship that won the Chicago-to-Mackinac race in July. |
John
Bell participated
in his first Chicago to Mackinac Island Race on July 20, as
a crew member aboard "Dr. Detroit. The crew was
made of experienced sailors from far away as Australia and
as close as San Francisco.
"Dr.
Detroit" took first place in the PHRF 4 division. The
good Dr's total elapsed time for the 330 mile race was 48
hours, 45 minutes.
Based
on good meteorological data, we took a contrarian course north
along the western edge of Lake Michigan before heading east
at Shaboygan, said John. Our win was directly
attributable to developing a strategic plan implemented by
a team working together to accomplish a common goal. Sound
familiar?
