1993

Hello once again. I’m happy to report that I continue to receive news and updates from people who have never been in this column before. Please continue to send in your news!

Ernesto Ure wrote to share the news that after several years in the corporate real estate world, he has decided to strike out on his own. He has recently announced the formation of Covenant Realty Partners in Manhattan Beach, Calif., where he lives with his wife Mari and their three children — Delfina (12), Clara (7) and Ernesto V (2). Congratulations and best of luck on the new venture.

  Connie Unger '93 in Romania

Connie Unger '93 in Romania last Septembe with (L to R) Andrea, Vasile and Ionela, some of the children she cared for while volunteering abroad.

Also stepping out in a new direction is Connie Unger. Connie celebrated her 40th birthday this past year by taking a volunteer vacation for two weeks in Eastern Romania to care for children in a “Failure to Thrive” clinic. For the most part, these children are orphans, and volunteers of this program help by simply providing basic care and love, which the children otherwise might not have a chance to experience. The trip was made even more special in that Connie is of 100 percent Romanian descent. Since she was there Sept. 7-22, she missed the terrorist attacks in her home city of New York, adding an extra degree of poignancy. This initial two-week experience was so special, Connie has since returned to Romania in February to continue this work. Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience.

Alla Grinshtat also wrote in about a wonderful experience. She celebrated her wedding to Michael Wexler in New Orleans on May 12, 2001, along with quite a few Kellogg classmates. Pictured below are: Yumiko Sato, who came all the way from Japan with her friend Satoko Sunami ’92, Heather Forsythe, Alla, Michael, Kathy Jara Skinner, Nancy White and Miguel Polanco. Alla reports that after Kellogg, she worked with American Express in New York, before going to work for Microsoft in Redmond, Wa., where she met Michael. Alla and Michael are living in Boston, where Alla writes that she “decided to experiment with a somewhat different venue and I’m presently working for the State of Massachusetts in their Technology Division on the deployment and marketing of their new state Web site.” Congratulations!

Alla Grinshtat '93 celebrated her marraige to Michael Wexler in New Orleans. Many Kellogg School friends attended.

Finally, I also want to remind everyone that — believe it or not — our 10-year reunion will be next year! This means we need to start thinking about it and planning now, and I would welcome any input and help from any of you. Please let me know if you would be willing to help with the big event. It should be a blast! The reunion will also be the time that I will be stepping down as class alumni rep. After 10 years, I think it is time to pass the baton to someone else. If any of you are interested in serving as the class alumni rep, please let me know and I’d be happy to share more about the job.

In the meantime, enjoy the springtime and keep sending updates!
