Cleveland
The Cleveland
alumni hosted a pre-holiday celebration and speaker event
on Dec. 14, sponsored by Deloitte Consulting. Professor Mitch
Petersen of the Finance department led an audience of Kellogg
and NU alums, plus members of local firms Eaton, Deloitte
and Booz€Allen in an energetic discussion titled "New
Economy, Old Finance," on valuation of e-Businesses.
Non-Kellogg alums in the audience were most impressed with
Professor Petersen's lucid explanations of the interplay between
stock performance expectations, interest rates, business strategy,
and plain old common sense. Overheard was much talk about
bringing him back to address forums in this sunny, winter
wonderland of ours (more power to the great Kellogg Finance
Department!). Later, over dinner, Professor Petersen talked
to group members about current developments at Kellogg, the
dean search, and strengthening alumni activities.
During
November, the Cleveland alumni club worked out a transition
from past president Andy Birol '85 to a committee of interim
co-chairs consisting of Rajesh Radhakrishnan '99, Suresh Krishna
'99, Maria Welborne '99, John Ford '00, and Sudhanshu Chhabra
'00. The interim group is currently organizing a more permanent
structure for the club and developing a schedule of mixers
and speaker-events over breakfast and in the evening. We are
exploring new avenues of collaboration with the NU Club of
Cleveland; including a seat on their board. Suggestions and
involvement is invited from current alums in the Cleveland/N.E.
Ohio area. Contact: interim co-chairs Rajesh Radhakrishnan
