1985
Greetings!
I hope this finds you all well and happy.
Rich
Damisch, manager of finance and accounting with Cimlinc
Incorporated, full of hope and good expectations, followed
the 'Cats to the Alamo Bowl, only to watch a sad performance
and not much of a game! Maybe next year? Other hardcore fans
that he saw in Texas included class of '85 alum Greg Kameika,
and Associate Dean Ed Wilson.
Inspired
by the last news update, John Cameron checked in, breaking
a long silence. John is an investment banker in Philadelphia
working with Berwind Financial, L.P., the investment banking
and private equity arm of Berwind Corporation. John's business
is primarily within a niche he's grown over the years executing
middle market investment banking transactions referred by
a number of Wall Street firms. On the personal front, John
has been married for 11 years to Barbara, a Midwestern girl,
who is an Iowa grad and Hawkeye football fanatic. They live
on the Main Line suburbs west of Philly. No kids but both
of them share a beloved brown tortie cat, Beebe. John continues
to keep in touch with Jim Schultz, Keith Bank
and a few others from the gang.
Marcia
Mandel Halgren also has resurfaced after many years (is
this a trend?) She and husband, Bob Halgren '84 and their
two daughters, Stephanie(11) and Courtney (8) relocated from
New Jersey to London in August so that Bob could help advance
a European high yield bond fund effort for Prudential (yes,
he is still there after 16 years!) They expect to be in London
for at least the next two years.
Mary
Schwartz sent her annual holiday letter with another picture
of her gorgeous children, Kyle (3) and Alex (6). Mary is working
three days a week with Northwest Airlines. Her spare time
is filled getting the kids to activities that include dance,
gymnastics, modeling and music classes. In between, Mary is
squeezing in Spanish lessons and the gym. Non-stop!
In a similar
state of "kid-rush," Henry and Gretchen
(Lux) Reed reported from California. Gretchen is thoroughly
involved in mom duties with son, Tim, and daughter, Eda. Henry,
when not refereeing Tim's and Eda's soccer games, or traveling/camping
with the family, is "working a lot" in his new job
as CEO of Centis, Inc.
One of
the Reed's traveling excursions was to visit Carol Hampke
and Jan-Peter Onstwedder in London. Carol is working
at UBS Asset Management and Jan-Peter was on the verge of
new employment after leaving Royal Bank of Scotland. Carol
and Jan-Peter also had a visit from Tod Windsor.
David
W. Selby has been promoted to senior vice president of
marketing of Sears, Roebuck and Co. He is responsible for
all of Sears' marketing, advertising and brand management
activities.

James
Michael "Jim" Schultz was included in a list
of "100 Most Influential People" assembled by the
I-Street Reporter, one of the nation's premier online
and offline newspapers for the new economy. Schulz is president
of Open Prairie Ventures I, L.P., which "drove commercialization
from university R&D and invested in area start-ups."
Rich
Anglemyer checked in with his annual holiday letter. Rich
left RBC Dominion Securities this summer to start Anglemyer
& Company in Denver. Rich is happy to continue to work with
all his former clients while working for himself! In addition
to building a new company, Rich and his wife, Carey, renovated
their home this past summer to make more room for son, Zachary,
and two cats.
Greg
French checked in from the Chicago suburbs. Their holiday
newsletter began, "Take last year's update off the refrigerator
and read it again -- those exciting French's have replicated
1999!" Despite the inevitable passage of time, not much
has changed. The French's are happy, healthy and remain active!
That's
it for now. For those more silent members of our class, follow
Marcia and John's leads and send me a note at poat@erols.
com. We'd love to hear from you! My best to you all.
