Lauren Elizabeth Billet

Monday afternoon, April 19, Nicole Billet gave birth to the family's first child. Ryan and Nicole now have a beautiful daughter named Lauren Elizabeth. Lauren weighed in at 6 lbs. 15 oz. and already boasts a thicker head of hair than half the men in EMP 61. Mom and baby came home from the hospital yesterday. Everybody is doing fine. Dad did not pass out during the delivery and, in spite of the pressure, was able to count to 10 repeatedly without a single mistake.

Anthony Phillip Gordon Stanich

Tony and Julie Stanich are the proud parents of Anthony Phillip Gordon Stanich. The baby was born Wednesday, April 21 at 12:08 a.m. He weighed in at 8 lbs., 14 oz. and was 20 inches long.

Louise Ponticiello

Louise Ponticiello arrived on Sunday morning, March 19 at 1:01 a.m.. She was 6 lbs. 5 oz. Louise was very considerate in letting her father complete his finals before being born. Maria went into the hospital around 10:00 pm on Saturday evening and three hours and one push later Louise was with the family. Guy was about to do some pushing of my very own - up to the bar that is - just before she was born. Arvind and Graciela were ordering me a drink at the House of Blues, when something told me to make a call back home. I found out my wife was in a taxi heading to the hospital. I immediately jumped in a taxi and beat my wife to Northwestern Memorial Hospital - probably a very good thing!

Ava Gabrielle Klein

Polly and Tony celebrated the birth of Ava Gabrielle on Monday, March 15. She was born at 6:10 p.m., weighed 5 lbs. 10 oz., and is 18.5 inches long. In quite the coincidence, Ava's cousin, Kaydon Patrick Roszkowiak, was born to Polly's brother and his wife on the same day, at the same hospital, by the same doctor. Amazing.

Everyone came home a few days later and we are all doing well.

EMP61's First "Life Event": A New Life

Lena Belle Olson was born on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 11:58 p.m. to Lars and Brooke Olson. Lena weighed 8 lbs, 1.5 oz. Brooke is particular about the extra half-ounce – she said that she worked hard for that extra half-ounce. Lars and Brooke had originally gone to the hospital at 6:00 a.m. and thought they lots of time to spare before Brooke delivered. As it happened, they made it to the hospital only two minutes before delivery!

Brooke and Lena are now at home and are doing great. Lars said of his budding fathering skills, "Although by no means an expert at diapers, I'm certainly getting a lot of practice and am loving every second of it!" Lars will be on campus for finals weekend, and there’s a good chance that he'll have more photos to show anyone who’s interested. Congratuations Lars and Brooke!
