Stephen R. Quazzo is co-founder and CEO of Transwestern Investment Company, L.L.C., a Chicago-based real estate principal investment firm established in 1996. Stephen is also a director of Transwestern Commercial Services, L.L.C.
Transwestern Investment Company is an affiliate of Transwestern Commercial Services, a diversified real estate services company with 23 offices, specializing in management, leasing, brokerage and development of office, industrial and retail, and which oversees more than 760 properties representing approximately 150 million square feet.
Over the last ten years, Transwestern Investment Company has acquired interests in over 380 properties representing a gross investment of more than $7 billion. Currently, the firm is seeking U.S. equity investment opportunities for Aslan Realty Partners III, L.L.C., an $800 million fully-discretionary fund, and U.S. mezzanine opportunities for Transwestern Mezzanine Realty Partners II, L.P., a $300 million fully-discretionary fund.
From 1991 to 1996 Stephen served as president of Equity Institutional Investors, Inc., a subsidiary of investor Sam Zell’s private holding company, Equity Group Investments, Inc. Stephen was responsible for raising equity capital and performing various portfolio management services in connection with the firm’s real estate investments, including the institutional opportunity funds and public REITs. Prior to joining the Zell organization, Stephen was in the Real Estate Department of Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he was a vice president responsible for the firm’s real estate investment banking activities in the Midwest.
Stephen is an active member of the following organizations:
- Urban Land Institute (ULI); Vice Chairman, Trustee and member of the Industrial and Office Development Council (Green Flight)
- City Year Chicago, Advisory Board member
- The Latin School of Chicago, Trustee
- In addition, he serves as a director of Starwood Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: HOT).
Stephen holds both an undergraduate and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard University. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Illinois.
