EHA LAB SESSIONS

There are three ways in which you can access the datasets for these sessions:

1. Download them to the workstation's "Work" directory
2. Use Stata's internet connectivity to read the data directly from this web site
3. Map Kellogg's server as a drive attached to the workstation

i. Download the files to the "Work" directory

Right-click on the file link and choose "Save as" (or "Save target as"):

ii. Use Stata's internet connectivity to read the data directly from this web site

To read the data files over the internet in Stata, type:

To execute a "do" file over the internet,

Note that the "copy" command would also work to make a local copy of a file stored in a web site.

iii. Map Kellogg's server as a drive attached to the workstation

1. Open a command window (look for "Command Prompt" under the Start menu)
   >"Map" Kellogg's web server as drive "X" on the computer using the following command:
   net use x: \\129.105.97.51\docs\researchcomputing\workshops\eha

2. The site containing the datasets will now show up as a drive in the computer. Using Stata you may now read the data with the "use" command:
   use x:\gssmar, clear
