Colloquium on Thought Leadership

Colloquium on Thought Leadership is part of the graduating class programming to build a stronger sense of community and class among part-time students who are in their last year of classes.

Throughout the year, we will offer an academic session taught by one of Kellogg’s leading faculty members, usually on a Friday evening. These sessions are designed to be capstone in nature, promoting what a Kellogg student should take with them as they leave their academic career here.

Following each Friday night session we will host a reception on the fifth floor for all attendees.

Symposium on Managerial Leadership

This leadership program, offered to all Kellogg part-time students, intends to provide interactive workshops and seminars for you to learn more about leadership attributes and continue to develop your own leadership qualities while at Kellogg through exposure to faculty, business leaders and interactive workshops.

Who Are You and What Are Your Goals?
January 29th
Wherever you are currently in your career, if you want to progress down a path that is meaningful and fulfilling, it is essential that you reflect on and gain an understanding of who you are and what goals you have for your future.  This workshop will outline the self-assessment process and introduce you to tools that will help you identify your interests, motivators, and abilities and outline short and long term goals that will serve as the foundation for your career development plan and job search strategy.

Who Needs a Plan?  YOU!  Developing your Search Strategy
February 26th

This workshop will pick up right where “Who Are You” left off.  We’ll put all of the self-assessment work to good use and talk about how to create and execute an effective job search strategy based on your goals and targets.  We’ll go deeper into how to mobilize and maximize your network, how to develop your professional pitch, and how to successfully conduct informational interviews.  By the end of the workshop, you will be ready to create your plan and set it in motion.

Who Are You On Paper?  Building Powerful Resumes & Cover Letters
March 5th

First impressions are critical in any career development or job search process.  In addition to your networking connections, your cover letter and resume are often the instruments that create that impression.  In this workshop you will gain an understanding of how to sell yourself and your skills through a targeted and impactful cover letter and resume that generate a positive impression and get the attention of potential employers.

Who Are You In Person?  Mastering the Interview, Search Wrap-Up, and First Day on the Job
April 9th
You have the interview—now what?  This workshop will focus on preparing for all types of fit interviews and will cover how to structure answers, how to ask the right questions of interviewers and how to engage in post-interview follow-up.  We will also touch on how to wrap up your job search once you’ve accepted an offer and how to get off on the right foot at your new job.

Interactive Resume Review
May 21st

Now that you think you have your ideal resume, why not put it to the test? Spend the evening working with your classmates who will provide you with practical, honest feedback to help you fine tune your resume. Our Career Coaches will be on hand to guide the critiques and answer those tough questions.  You will leave the session with a sense of what changes you may want to make to ensure a truly powerful resume.

Interview Practicum
June 4th

You’ve learned all of the interviewing best practices in “Who Are You In Person”, and this practicum will allow you to put those skills to use. The workshop provides a brief refresher on the interview essentials, and then you will practice and polish those interview stories.  Students leave the workshop with key takeaways about interviewing in general, as well as how to specifically improve their personal interview skills.

Bonus Session--Business Etiquette
Date TBD
In addition to the PDS schedule, we will offer a special session on Business Etiquette. Gloria Peterson of Global Protocol will return to Kellogg to lend her expertise on the best way to navigate a variety of social situations in the business world. Ms. Peterson will challenge how you think about what you wear, how you greet a person while balancing refreshments and how to enter an existing conversation among strangers.

Due to the popularity of her session last year, we advise you sign up quickly. It will be held on a Saturday from Noon until 3:00 pm. There will be an additional fee for this session (to cover the costs of lunch) and specific registration.
