Allan Drebin
Professor Emeritus of Accounting Information & Management
Allan R. Drebin, PH.D. is a professor of accounting information and management at Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg School of Management, a position he has held since 1969. He began his academic career in 1960 as an assistant professor of accounting at UCLA. From 1965-69 he served as an associate professor of accounting at Cornell University.
For thirteen years Professor Drebin served as a visiting professor of accounting at Chulalongkorn University, SASIN Graduate Institute of Business Administration in Bangkok, Thailand. In 1993 the Kingdom of Thailand honored him with the Royal Decoration "Commander of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand."
He is the author of numerous books and articles on accounting and other business subjects. He is also the recipient of several honors including the American Accounting Association's award for a Notable Contribution to Literature in Government and Nonprofit Accounting.
From 1995-96 he served as president of the Chicago Chapter of the Financial Executives Institute. He presently serves as vice president of the Elizabeth Cheney Foundation and as president of the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists. He is a member of the boards of Columbia College Chicago, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.
Professor Drebin earned his B.B.A. (with distinction), M.B.A., and Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Michigan. He is also a CPA.
