Beacon Capital Partners Executive in Residence

The Beacon Capital Partners Executive in Residence program is a unique opportunity for the Kellogg School to invite a world class leader in social enterprise to spend a few days talking with the entire Kellogg community about important issues in nonprofit management.

John Wood (KSM '89), the 2009 Beacon Capital Partners Executive in Residence, is the founder and CEO of Room to Read, an award-winning nonprofit that provides educational opportunities for children in the developing world. Mr. Wood spoke with students, alumni and local nonprofit leaders on January 13th and 14th, 2009.

The 2007 Beacon Capital Partners Executive in Residence, Jim Scherr (KSM '89), was the first Olympian ever selected to lead the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).  He joined the staff of the USOC in 2000 following his highly successful tenure as executive director of USA Wrestling. On Wednesday, October 10, 2007, Mr. Scherr shared his perspective on leadership with students and alumni.

The second Executive in Residence was Cassandra Pulley (KSM '76) former SVP Public Responsibility and President, Sara Lee Foundation, on November 8-9, 2006.

The first ever Beacon Capital Partners Executive in Residence was Christopher A. Crane, President & CEO of Opportunity International, who visited the Kellogg School on May 18, 2006. Crane delivered two lectures to the Kellogg School community: "Opportunity International: Providing Financial Services for the Poor" and "A Business Solution to Poverty."
