Harry Kraemer delivers MacEachern Lecture, named Laura Jackson
Award Winner
Harry
M. Jansen Kraemer, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Baxter International,
Inc. gave the 27th Annual Malcolm MacEachern Memorial Lecture
on May 30, 2003
at the Tribune Auditorium
at Kellogg’s James L. Allen Center.
Harry
joined Baxter in 1982 as director of corporate development.
His career
there has included senior positions in both domestic
and international operations.
In 1993, he was named senior vice president and chief financial officer, responsible
for all financial operations, business development, communications, Baxter
Export Corporation and European operations. Over the next several
years, he assumed
additional responsibility for the company’s various healthcare businesses.
In April 1997, Mr. Kraemer was named president of Baxter International, Inc.
Having served as Baxter’s Chairman and CEO since January 1999, Mr. Kraemer
also serves on the company’s board of directors.
Active
in business, education and civic affairs, Mr. Kraemer serves
on the boards
of directors of Comdisco, Inc., Evanston
Northwestern Healthcare, Science Applications
International Corporation, and the Kellogg School of Management Advisory
Board. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for Lawrence
University. Mr. Kraemer
is a member of the Business Roundtable, the Healthcare Leadership Council,
the Chicago Club, the Commercial Club of Chicago and the
Executives Club of Chicago.
For his outstanding leadership and service to Kellogg, he received the school’s
1996 Schaffner Award. Mr. Kraemer graduated summa cum laude from Lawrence University
in Wisconsin in 1977 with bachelor degrees in mathematics and
economics. He received his MBA
degree from Kellogg in 1979.
Prior
to the lecture, Tracy Heilman, Alumni Board Chairman, presented
Mr. Kraemer
with the 35th Laura G. Jackson Award
for his exceptional leadership in the healthcare
industry. This award is the alumni association’s top achievement award
and recognizes outstanding Kellogg graduates in the healthcare field. Approximately
150 people attended the lecture and the following reception. |
