ADA, Kellogg form alliance to enhance leadership skills

The American Dental Association has teamed with Kellogg School of Management to enhance its focus on management and leadership programming for local, state and national leaders. The alliance debuted this past May with the ADA Leadership Team Forum. Organized by KSM Professor Thomas Prince and attended by leadership teams from 20 constituent and component societies and national dental organizations, the one-day Leadership Forum featured presentations on leadership from Kellogg faculty and a discussion on leadership, communication and strategic planning by ADA President T. Howard Jones and Executive Director Dr. James Bramson.

ADA and Kellogg will continue their alliance this fall with the first class of the ADA Institute for Diversity in Leadership. The Institute, which currently has 177 applicants, is a yearlong educational program for promising dental leaders that seeks to build a lifetime network of supportive relationships among dentists who have the promise to impact diverse communities and become future dental leaders. Kellogg will help the ADA develop a leadership training curriculum for the Institute.

Kellogg members of the alliance’s Steering Committee are: Dawn Iacobucci, Ph.D., Professor of Marketing; Robert Korajczyk, Ph.D.; Harry G. Guthmann, Distinguished Professor of Finance; Vennie Lyons, Associate Dean of the Manager’s Program; and Thomas Prince, Ph.D., Professor of Accounting Information & Management and of Health Industry Management.
